BOMBANANA Multiplayer

BOMBANANA is played by exactly three players online — no more, no less. There is no two-player mode, no single-player mode, and no friend pass. Each of the three players needs their own copy on Steam.

Do all three players need to buy it?

Yes. The Steam page does not advertise a friend pass, a one-copy guest system, local co-op, split-screen or Remote Play Together. Every participant needs their own copy on a separate account and device.

BOMBANANA does support Steam Family Sharing, but only one borrower can use a shared library at a time and not while the owner is playing — so for three people playing together, you still need three copies.

Can you play with two people?

No. The game requires exactly three monkeys. "Similar games for two players" is a common follow-up search — see games like BOMBANANA for co-op communication games that work with two.

Crossplay

BOMBANANA is only on Windows and macOS via Steam. There are no console or other-store versions, so there is nothing for crossplay to connect to. Whether Windows and macOS players on Steam can play together in the same lobby is not confirmed here.

Room codes and joining

The "codes" players search for are lobby room codes used to join friends, not redeem codes — BOMBANANA has no redeem-code system. The exact steps to create and join a private room are not documented here yet; check the in-game multiplayer menu and the official Discord.

If you cannot connect on Linux

Proton users report online co-op works well, but a few report the game freezing on the Play button so they cannot change room settings or invite friends. See the Linux guide for the working Proton version and the not launching guide for the Play-button crash.
